Myrtle Beach Wins Critical Case

David Hucks Monday, October 31, 2011

Myrtle-Beach.com won a critical free speech battle in court this past week against a local investment banker who demanded that articles written by Myrtle-Beach.com concerning his role in a local church split be removed.

Scott Pyle, and his wife, Pamela, D.O. had filed a motion with the court in conjunction with a lawsuit against the  Myrtle Beach company.  Their motion was seeking an injunction which would have required Myrtle-Beach.com to remove the articles immediately.  The motion would have also prevented Myrtle-Beach.com from any future reporting on this story,  including Mr. or Mrs. Pyle or their businesses.  On Friday,  the judge ruled in favor of Myrtle-Beach.com leaving the articles entirely intact for now.  The company can continue covering the story pending a final resolution of the suit.  The articles report about a church of once over 1600 members where 6 percent of the citizenship of Myrtle Beach had previously attended.  The Beach Church split has been an issue of intense interest in the local community for over the past year now.

Scott Pyle and his wife, Pamela,  have also sued Myrtle-Beach.com and its writers for defamation , invasion of privacy, and interference with business relationships.  Scott Pyle also claims to have been threatened, at a red light, at the intersection of Joe White and Bob Grissom on September 6, 2011.

While we are told it can take as long as 18 months to uncover the truth in this matter,  we look forward to keeping each of you updated as these charges are brought into sunlight.

I personally want to thank the community, our readers, and our followers  for the great outpouring of love and support throughout this process.  Fortunately,  the truth and the facts are fully in our corner as we move forward.
