Located along a stretch of businesses in downtown Myrtle Beach, Black Thai Restaurant & Lounge 22 offers delicious Thai cuisine in an authentically decorated atmosphere. The walls are covered with beautiful Thai-influenced tapestries and other accessories can be found all around the restaurant. Diners can enjoy their meals in the elegant dining room, or for a more laid back experience, the patio in back of Black Thai Restaurant provides tables and chairs amidst an Asian inspired landscape. Black Thai also offers a full bar and customers are encouraged to relax on the plush leather couches while viewing the flat screen television.
Black Thai Restaurant & Lounge 22 has a flavorful variety of menu items, including: appetizers, lunch entrees priced at $5.99 and dinner entrees priced at $7.99. I began my meal with an order of the crispy spring rolls and a side salad. The lettuce, tomato and artfully cut cucumbers were noticeably fresh and the ginger dressing paired wonderfully. Guests have their choice of vegetarian-friendly steamed rice, fried rice, Thai curry and noodle entrees. Meats such as beef, chicken and shrimp can be added for an additional but very reasonable price. My chosen entrée was the Drunken Noodle with beef. I was surprised, but impressed with the flavor combination of Thai rice noodles, basil, carrots, broccoli and garlic. The meat was tender and the sauce complemented the dish perfectly.
I also tried the pineapple fried rice with chicken which included: cashews, pineapple, tomatoes, onions, eggs, green onions and cilantro. The contrast between the sweet pineapple and salt made this dish very memorable. For dessert, I ordered the recommended fried ice cream and it was incredible. Chocolate chip ice cream is embedded in a pastry crust and raspberry sauce along with whipped cream top the decadent dish. I left Black Thai Restaurant full and eager to return.
