Walk With Me

Every time I tie on my sneakers and start to walk the shoreline, I look across the infinite span of the ocean and whisper a little prayer of thanks.
Sometimes I pad along wet, packed sand at low tide. Sometimes the tides carve out rolling sand hills for me… sometimes swashes and streams of water stretch across the beach like mystical etchings.
Seagulls and sandpipers are my constant companions and sunlight dances on the sea waters like the sparkle of a million diamonds.
As my calves work their way to a mild burn, I always come to a point on the walk where the world morphs Zen.
Like the runner’s high you hear about, a kind of euphoric trance takes over; a feeling of grace that forces me to convene with nature’s almighty command.
A beach walk can transcend your life, for a moment or forever.
