Blue Crab Festival Saved!

Little River and Blue Crab lovers have a reason to celebrate! The Little River Blue Crab festival, a long standing tradition in South Carolina, which was canceled for 2012 is officially back on! The Blue Crab Festival committee canceled the festival for 2012 while it looked into “issues such as [the] number of vendors the festival can accommodate, selection, placement and set up of vendors/exhibitors, vendor parking, entertainment, transportation and security.” The festival has grown considerably in size over the last couple years. More vendors have crowded the area making less parking available, in contrast to the increased number of festival attendees.
Horry County Councilman Harold Worley has made it his mission to save the Blue Crab Festival telling WPDE: “The Blue Crab Festival belongs to the people of Little River and Horry County and it's going to happen this year, 2012.” According to Worley a new committee has been set up to handle the Blue Crab Festival and they are just waiting on tax documents to arrive to introduce the committee. The festival will take place this year, its 31st in existence, from May 19th- 20th.
So who's ready to eat some crabs?
