Police Crackdown on Prostitution

When people think of Myrtle Beach, they usually conjure up images of pristine beaches, warm weather and a family friendly atmosphere. If Myrtle Beach Police have anything to do say about it, those images are going to stay that way.
Myrtle Beach police have been cracking down on what is considered a growing prostitution problem in the city. Already this year police have arrested and charged over ten people with prostitution- related crimes. In 2011, only 70 people were charged with crimes relating to prostitution. Prostitution seems to be the most prevalent by Chester and Flagg streets off Ocean Boulevard. Some people, however, don’t think prostitution is a problem here. Myrtle Beach Police Captain David Knipes told WMBF news, “"Some groups in society think it shouldn't be something we're wasting our time with.”
So should the police be concerned about this? Or is it not really a problem in Myrtle Beach?
