Myrtle Beach Landmark Reopens

Elissa Jarvis, Lead Reporter Sunday, January 29, 2012

In just a few short days a beloved Myrtle Beach landmark will once again be open to the public! Peaches Corner, a restaurant located on the corner of Ocean Boulevard and 9th Avenue across from the former Pavilion site, has been closed down for the last couple weeks as the restaurant was undergoing renovations.  This Friday, February 3rd, Peaches Corner will reopen their newly remodeled restaurant.

Peaches Corner has been a cornerstone in downtown Myrtle Beach since its inception in 1937. The restaurant is named for the Peach family, who owned the restaurant from 1937 to 1943. It was bought in 1943 but the new owners decided to keep the name. The renovations for Peaches Corner include: replacing the old blinking carnival signs and the giant wooden peaches in favor of new neon-lit signs, resurfacing the roof, removing and replacing rotting wood flooring and railing and fixing drainage problems. They have also added a giant peach to their new blue marquee.  The restaurant is planning a 75th anniversary party set for sometime this spring as well.

So are you excited to see the new renovations?
