Do We Need a Better Boardwalk?

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is getting extended this year to make way for a new restaurant and a municipal park. The prime real estate is located around the 14th avenue section of Ocean Boulevard, and construction crews are already tearing down the old hotels located on the premises. While a beach front restaurant is always a great thing to add, with that kind of real estate couldn’t something better be built there?
My family is from New Jersey and when I think of a boardwalk, I’m thinking more like Seaside Heights or Wildwood. They have huge boardwalks with tons of restaurants, arcades, amusement park rides, shopping and clubs. Myrtle Beach has much much prettier beaches than New Jersey, but their boardwalk leaves something to the imagination. Instead of a park that property could be used for a casino, arcade, clubs or new pavilion.
What would you build in that space?
