Parking Rates to Increase?

Love parking in downtown Myrtle Beach during the summer? You may have to pay more this year. The Myrtle Beach Downtown Redevelopment Corp (DRC) is expected to ask for a 25 cent increase per hour for parking meters downtown at their meeting with the city council next week. This would bring the price to one dollar an hour for non-premium parking spots and $1.50 for premium spots, but would not affect parking garages. If the city council agrees to the increase, this would be the first across the board parking rates increase since 2004. The added revenue would go to aiding the DRC make improvement in downtown. The Myrtle Beach city council has often declined these requests in the past.
So should Myrtle Beach raise their parking rates?
