New Bike Week in the Works

Elissa Jarvis, Lead Reporter Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Even though Myrtle Beach bike week isn’t for another five months, the state is already gearing up for the influx of bikers.  Even thought the amount of bikers coming to the Grand Strand has diminished over the last few years, the spring rally is still one of the biggest events in town. Hundreds of bikers from all over the country come to Myrtle Beach to soak up the sand, surf and have fun with their fellow bikers.

This year Florence is getting in on the action. They are holding what they call “Myrtle Beach Bike Week West” at the Florence Civic Center. They are holding the event in early March, so that bikers have the opportunity to hit both the Myrtle Beach event in May and the Florence event in March. The Florence event is expected to have over a 100 vendors including vintage displays, seminars, live entertainment, and drag bike displays among other activities and vendors.

So is another bike week a good idea for South Carolina, or is one bike week one too many?
