Magic Happens in Myrtle Beach

Elissa Jarvis, Lead Reporter Monday, January 09, 2012

We might not have Siegfried and Roy, but Myrtle Beach has its own brand of magic. This weekend hosts the third annual “Magic at the Beach” convention. The convention starts Thursday at the Ocean Dunes Resort and Villas in Myrtle Beach and will run for four days. Dozens of magicians from across the country will be in Myrtle Beach to hone their craft.

On Saturday, the magicians will be hosting a “Champions of Magic 2012” performance at Carolina Opry. The event starts at 7:30 and the is bound to be a magical good time. Magicians performing include Jay Mattioli, last seen levitating Jerry Springer on America’s Got Talent, French juggler Xavier Mortimer, Gregory Wilson and Jeff McBride among others. Tickets to the performance are 25 dollars for twelve and under and $30 for thirteen and up, but you have to call to differentiate for children's tickets. For more information or to get tickets check out their website at championsofmagicshow.com.

So what’s your favorite magic trick?
