All eyes are going to turn toward Myrtle Beach in the next week and a half, as the Republican presidential candidates are heading to the Grand Strand. Fox News is hosting a Republican presidential candidate debate at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on Monday January 16th. South Carolina is a Republican strong-hold, having voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980.
Several Republican candidates have already headed to the Palmetto State. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was in Conway, just a few miles away from Myrtle Beach, giving a speech at a peanut warehouse. Romney recently won the Iowa Caucasus in a narrow vote, defeating Rick Santorum by just eight votes. He has also picked up the endorsement of both South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and Arizona Senator John McCain. Santorum, a former Pennsylvanian senator, is heading to Greenville, South Carolina on Sunday. Santorum is currently planning a rally a restaurant there. Candidate Rick Perry is also headed to South Carolina on Sunday, and more candidates are likely to follow.
So are you ready for Republican fever to hit Myrtle Beach?
