New Attractions Coming to Myrtle Beach!

Elissa Jarvis, Lead Reporter Thursday, December 29, 2011

2011 saw a plethora of new attractions in Myrtle Beach. 20 new venues opened up at Broadway at the Beach alone, including Wonderworks, the Tilted Kilt and Capriz. The Skywheel opened in May giving tourists and locals a new reason to head downtown, and Pirates Voyage breathed new life into the old Dixie Stampede building in June. With all the changes in Myrtle Beach over the last year, it’s no wonder tourists and locals alike are excited to see what will come to Myrtle Beach in 2012. While it’s still too early to know all the changes that will come to Myrtle Beach in the upcoming year, we have found two new attractions worth mentioning:

1.  New zip lines are planned for the old pavilion site. Two zip line towers are going to be built where the pavilion once stood in downtown just moments away from the Skywheel and two 15-story slingshot attractions. The towers will be up to 65 feet high and will allow users to ride down the lines while having a breathtaking view of the ocean.

2.  BurgerFi- an eco-friendly burger chain is hoping to open two locations in Myrtle Beach in late 2012. “BurgerFi is an all-natural, better burger concept that’s recreated the feel, flavors and nostalgia of the 1950s hamburger drive-in in a relaxed, urban and environmentally efficient setting,” a BurgerFi spokesman told the Sun News. BurgerFi uses naturally grown, vegetarian fed, antibiotic free beef that was produced on a sustainable ranch. They also offer vegetarian options, use potato buns for their burgers, and serve wine and craft beers. In an effort to be green, BurgerFi uses recycled furniture in their restaurants and has communal tables made from beams taken from old buildings.

These two new attractions are a promising start for Myrtle Beach in 2012. As the year goes on, there will likely be an ever growing list of new things to see and do in Myrtle. So what attractions would you like to see come to town?
