Myrtle Beach Charities Give Back to Community

Does the holiday spirit make you want to give back to the community? Want to donate your time and energy to helping someone else have a merry Christmas but not sure where to go? We’ve got you covered. Even though its last minute, we found some charities that could still use a helping hand this season.
Street Reach provides emergency shelter and supportive services to men, women and children. They are is looking for volunteers from Dec. 19th-25th toparticipate in the Christmas dinner that will be served at the Greek Orthodox Church on Christmas day. They also need volunteers to help package and prepare food prior to Christmas as well. Volunteers can work either 7a.m. to noon or from noon to 5 p.m. If you’d like to help please email Barbara Miller-White at thombarb04@yahoo.com with the names, date, time, and contact information of all volunteers.
Coastal Rescue Mission is a Myrtle Beach based ministry and a member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. They provide food, shelter, clothing, and education to the poor and needy in the Myrtle Beach area. They are looking for volunteers in December and January to stuff envelopes or work in their Loving Kindness store. They are also looking for donates as they expect to feed around 1,200 people this holiday season. You can drop off donations at Coastal Rescue Mission, Inc. at 568 George Bishop Pkwy or call 843-448-1352.
Operation Warm Up keeps the homeless warm by giving blankets and winter items to the homeless. They are in need of need of blankets, jackets, gloves, socks, toothpaste and anything else you can give. Donations can be dropped off at Grand Community Church, 3820 Holmestown Road or call 843-997-5059.
If you can’t do something this holiday season, please remember many charities and community services need volunteers and donations all year round.
