Myrtle Beach Pavilion Comes Back to Life in 2012

Elissa Jarvis, Lead Reporter Sunday, December 11, 2011

Did you get the chance to visit the Myrtle Beach Pavilion before it was torn down? The Pavilion was a staple in the Myrtle Beach area for almost 60 years. It was considered the “heart” of Myrtle Beach and was even voted #1 Family Attraction in Myrtle Beach by the Travel Channel.

After being vacant for the last five years, the Pavilion grounds are having new life breathed into them. A private company has been granted a lease by Burroughs and Chapin to build a zip line on area. Details are sparse about the new attraction but it seems the new zip lines at the Pavilion grounds were inspired by the current zip line attraction at Broadway at the Beach. Construction on the new zip line is suppose to begin early next year and should be open by summer.

Nothing can take the spot of the beloved Pavilion in tourist’s and local’s hearts, but at least the area won’t be vacant any longer. So will you be hitting up the new zip lines or do you wish they were rebuilding the Pavilion instead?
