Does High School Prepare You For Real Life

Everyone has to go to high school, but how well does high school really prepare you for real life?

A high school education is one of the most valuable things a person can have in America, but does it really teach you the fundamentals of being an adult? Yes, we all use English and math everyday but some of those other subjects- not so much. I’ve never used anything I learned in my environmental science class or my fashion marketing class. Furthermore I’ve met several high school graduates that can’t do basic things like balancing a checkbook or using a washing machine.

A high school diploma doesn’t get a person as far as it used to anymore either. Companies want people with college degrees or even masters degrees to do such simple things as handling a phone switchboard. It seems more and more like high school only really prepares you for two things: college or the military. Real life is an entirely different story.
