Finding a Cool Spot

Man, it's hot!!! As temperatures continue to soar near over 100 degrees, almost everyone is looking for a cool place in the shade.

Staying cool, before the 1930's, our best options included the beach, the river, or finding a cool shade tree and waiting for a soft breeze.
We are told that there were two significant trees found in the Garden of Eden. One was called the tree of life. The other was called the tree of judgement (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil). Adam and Eve could decide daily which tree they would eat from. However, choosing to eat from the tree of judgement would require a permanent move.
Early in life, I chose to judge everything I came in contact with. I loved to categorize every person I met right from the start. It seemed so efficient. This pattern did not work well in my close relationships, however, and did lead to much disaster. I often lived a life of isolation, moving from one bad relationship to another.
My friends, who prefer to eat from the tree of judgement, have resolved to live much the same. While holding a superior position to the world at large, judgers appear to be a lonely brood who live disconnected lives, invade others with their opinions, are often on the uninvited list, and this sort does tend to die alone.

It was a change of view that allowed a course correction in my own life. I made a decision that always being right and superior wasn't as superior as it appeared.
Inviting others to join in and just being with was certainly a much cooler place.
I now shade myself under the tree of life. It's a great way to spend a Summer day and stay out of the heat.
Ofcourse, playing in the surf with good friends is just a natural extension of eating from that tree. Maybe it's a cliche, but it's true, "You rarely get a new chance to make an old friend."

Tell us here on this page, how are you staying cool this Summer?
