A quiet week at the beach

Is it just me, or has the information coming from my television screen grown increasingly more negative and toxic, especially the news? I often feel as though I need to detoxify after watching about an hour or so of it.
For me, that means a quiet walk on the beach in the late afternoons.

Thankfully, I live here in Myrtle Beach. For some of my family, who do not, a one week visit is required.
My family loves to reserve a beach home for a week at Garden City Pointe. My nephews and neices all come down and we have several generations each spending time with one another. We intentionally minimize the T.V. during this week.
My wife and I take the entire week off, enjoying hours with family on the beach and also doing things around town. For us, in Summer 2011, that includes mountain biking in Murrells Inlet, kayaking in the Ocean, and experiencing the new rides in town. This year we will try the new zip line at Broadway at the Beach and the new Myrtle Beach Skywheel on the Boardwalk located on Ocean Boulevard. My nephew always wants to go parasailing with Ocean Watersports, so that is a must do every Summer.
A large part of our day is simply riding boogie boards in to shore and then paddling back out to catch the next big wave.
I am at my best when I am living life unplugged. The days just seem to last longer for me. My life is also more rich and full as I begin to connect to people that really matter. Being on the beach, with no regard for the latest news or what time it is, makes me feel like a kid again.
Totally detoxified....
Hope to see you on the beach this Summer.
